Merry Christmas 2009

well - as far as family pictures goes, this is about as good as it gets. we decided since we are already as nice as we get, we would take some pics at church. i have been on a writing hiatus, i know, but i am hoping to get better at least with some pictures and brief updates on our life. we are heading up to nc next week to visit with my family, and enjoy some time away. the only thing that comes to mind about the boys at the moment is that they are BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! and therefore so are we. but we are enjoying their antics, their curiosity, and their growth very much. happy holidays!

enough of the two's

well - i wanted to post some pictures, and say that brody has kept me on my toes lately. i have really had to step up the discipline and work hard on being firm and consistent and whoo i am worn out. but ya gotta love the little guy. enjoy!

this is us at the truck and tractor show we took brody to for his birthday...

welcoming in two - and other things

Wow - i have gotten really lax on this writing thing. time has definitely become more precious. it seems we fall into bed every night just exhausted. usually before 10pm.

life is full, and we are having to learn even more than ever to prioritize. adam`s job is demanding, as am i, and of course the boys. we are in the process of joining the church we have been attending, and getting involved with other couples with young children like us. we are also trying to exercise and get out some. when you add all that up, we are often in the red when it comes to time, but we try the best we know how.

adam has been busy trying to get diagnosed. his mystery fatigue and dizziness have him very frustrated to put it mildly, and he has been seeing specialists for various tests based on his symptoms. he is determined, and will not be swayed. he even recently convinced an endocrinologist to prescribe a test adam's friend wants to give him. so we are hoping for something - and are thankful he has been feeling good lately.

i have been busy with the boys, of course. it is so physically demanding to be a mom, i am learning. not that it is so physical, but i HAVE to get sleep in order to remain calm, patient, to plan well, to handle tantrums, to discipline, to love, and to appreciate all the little things. i really do. i can;t just grab a coffee and veg out at my desk until i pep up. and i am learning to let go of expectations some. so - that's me...

brody just had his 2nd birthday. we took him to a tractor pull which was a new experience for the three of us. we had fun together - it has been forever since we did something with just brody. we took him to Chili's and they sang happy birthday to him. the we let him pick out a truck at Kmart - which we wrapped up for him to open the next day. then the tractor pull. it was so loud! we wore earplugs. these souped up trucks attach themselves to a tractor that is weighted and pull as long as they can. very interesting. so - we had a good time. we had a family party the next day with cake and presents. i would say he had a great time. he is so fun - he really just loves being with us and seeing new things and, honestly, he had more fun looking at the trucks coming down the road while we ate outside at Chili's than he did anything else. i love this age!

sam is growing fast. he loves being around brody - its like entertainment all day, you know? he loves to eat - which we just started. he is such a happy baby. he sleeps well, and i really enjoy him. he has just begun to sit up well and it won't be long before he will be crawling. he is so ready to move!

the boys are getting fun to watch as they interact more. brody has always enjoyed having sam around. he walks down the stairs every morning and asks for sam. he gets so excited when sam wakes up from his naps. and sam is now getting more interested in "playing" with brody. they are such sweet boys.

well - that's pretty much the run down. i am heading up to nc in a couple of weeks, which i am excited about. other than that, i am just trying to enjoy every day, remembering they won't stay little forever.

haircut

so - brody got his first haircut by someone other than us earlier this month and i felt like he`looked 12 years old afterwards. he wiggled just a little, but the sucker and another little boy waiting kept his focus off the scissors.

wow - so it's been awhile. it's hard to know where to start. let's see.

sam is growing up fast - over 12 pounds at his 2 month checkup. he sleeps very well at night, and we are working on day naps - right now they are sporadic. he loves to watch brody play, and be held, and he does like the playmat - but he can only take so much of the hanging animals and music.

brody has been talking more (weird words too - truck, juice, shoes, sock, block), is now big into cars like hot wheels, and generally adapting to days with sam. we are taking a swim class together and he is a natural is the water - plus he loves getting out of the house to play - me too.

i have joined the ymca and been trying to go out there most days to work it out physically and mentally. it has been nice to have some time for that.

adam has been sick with a nasty virus for weeks now, and has been having to rest a lot. he has not left the house except to go to work  for almost 2 months. life at the house is not very restful, however, so it is taking awhile to recoup.

overall - i must say our plate is full, and there are some days i am overwhelmed. i am trying to be more flexible and simply let go of things more - but easier said than done for me. i am very happy, exhausted, amazed, challenged, ...this mom gig is harder than it looks. we are muddling through these days as best we can. and we try to enjoy this time - the older i get the more i know how quickly time passes. i will end with some semi-updated pictures.
